If you are a college student, perhaps there are some clubs or groups at your college that you can get involved with?

Just moved here a week ago. I'm way up North COS. Are there any good dive bars close by? I'd like to take a break from unpacking and get out for a bit to meet people. I'm not looking for restaurants or fancy wine establishments. I'm a pretty simple guy

No real "dives" to speak of, but there is the All American Sports Cafe at Voyager and Middle Creek in the Northgate area. Also the Back East Bar and Grill in Briargate area. For some really good beer and bar food there's the Colorado Mountain Brewery on Interquest at I-25.

Thanks for the advice. I'd figure there'd be some old school bars in Monument. I can't seem to find any except one called Happy Hour. Can't find much info on it though.

In Monument, this brew pub has really taken off: Pikes Peak Brewing Co - Elevating the Craft of Beer

Also a Back East Bar and Grill just opened (or will soon open) in Monument as well.

Have fun; but be careful.......(goes without saying). Colorado Springs has so much going for it, the beauty of the mountains and trails, the clean, wonderful air, that sometimes we are not as observant as we should be.

Good luck in your new home and adventure!!

Monument doesn't have any "dive bars" that I'm aware of...the majority of bars are all in chain restaurants it seems. But the new place Back East (formerly 1st and 10) is open, though I haven't been there yet. I didn't see O'Malleys in Palmer Lake mentioned, but that is a great little place. Very popular on warm afternoons and the deck is almost always full. Say....you don't happen to be the guy From Minneapolis area I met the other morning at the gas station by king sooper are you?
