I like to night hike. I've done it up Pike's Peak, Heizer Trail, Palmer Park, Section 16, St. Mary's Falls and Mt. Herman. What else is there? What are your favorite night hikes? I'm wondering if I can find something really cool in the area that has an awesome overlook of the city at night time.

Let me know!

Mt. Cutler and Mt. Muscoco used to be cool around Christmas because you see down to Seven Falls that was all lit up for the holidays - maybe next year that will be true again.

Go up east 5th st in Leadville and continue on towards Mosquito Pass. At the base of the switchbacks there is a small lake/big pond with some good camp sites. Make camp, then walk the switchbacks at night to the top of the pass. Not much in the way of city lights but the Milky Way makes up for it. I love night hikes. Magic.

I think Lookout Mtn up near Denver would be pretty cool at night, too....

Oh and you'd really like the Macneil trail to the Horns on Cheyenne Mtn (which is now Cloud Camp owned by the Broadmoor, so just be careful about that part) - great city views. Make sure you do it in daylight once before attempting it in the dark so you know where you're going.

And May's Peak in N. Cheyenne Canyon you get some good views, also, although not totally unobstructed.

Never done it at night, but Mt Rosa is a neat hike that gives a huge panoramic view of the area.

Agreed - although I don't think you can see over Cheyenne Mtn to Colorado Springs. It is higher than Cheyenne Mtn, but not high enough. The trail also is in fairly poor shape in several places so personally I would say make sure you've done it in daylight before attempting in the dark.

Agreed on that. I remember amusing my friend when I asked if Mt. Rosa would be okay for a stroller. I don't think he could stop laughing to tell me NO WAY.
