Does anyone have any experience or info on D11, and Mitchell HS in particular. We are looking at a house, and my kids would attend this school. I have heard mixed things about it. My kids are high-performing, and we are very involved parents, so I feel that we can make up for a low-performing school, if that is indeed the case.

Your kids can get a decent education there, but it is hard to recommend. They can certainly do better. My friend who lives in that area and taught there originally had her children there but transferred them out to Coronado for a better educational experience. You can still live there and have your kids go elsewhere if you can provide the transportation - some people aren't up for that, but more and more people do that these days.

I would not want my kids to attend that school, D11 does have other high schools that are in my opinion better choices.

I have to agree. I don't have kids but I have friends that have sent theirs to Mitchell. It was a brief relationship. It's not one of the better schools in Colorado Springs. It's not terrible compared to high schools in other cities but it is on the bottom rungs of the educational ladder here.
I used to live just east of Mitchell and they seem to have a problem with truancy. Lots of kids wandering around the neighborhood during school hours and causing minor mischief. Albeit, it's in one of the higher crime areas of Colorado Springs so there was mischief caused by adults as well.
As otowi said, try to get them into Coronado HS. I've heard nothing but good things about that school. I currently live fairly close to it and don't see the same truancy issues I did at Mitchell. The parents I know that send their kids to Coronado are happy with it and their kids are too.

Mitchell is the worst D11 high school..just my opinion.
