My family will be relocating from the Midwest to the Springs this summer in order to be closer to family. My husband was fortunate to be offered a teaching job in the Fountain School District. Not being familiar with the area I did some research here to see if it would be suitable and things seemed alright. He accepted the job and we were confident in our decision until a friend (who grew up in Manitou but spent some time in Widefield) suggested that he would be working with a "difficult population" of students. I was confused since nothing I've read seemed to indicate the district being particularly difficult. I'm assuming that there will be a fair amount of military families but I don't equate that with being difficult. In addition, she mentioned that a plane had crashed in Widefield park back in the 90's and that it wouldn't be a place where she would take her children.....um ok. We still fell confident with our choice but now there's a little doubt that what she's saying is true. Does anyone have any recent personal experience about Fountain School District and the Fountain area in particular? I grew up in the Northwest corner of the Springs so I'm clueless about anything down south!

I live not far from there and I tutor kids from there - you have nothing to worry about.
