In light of that, I'd suggest that until we get more information, none of us speculate on any of a number of items that the Denver crowd may be running wild with in speculation of the events.

So Colorado covers itself with glory once again. First Columbine, then Aurora. Does any other state have this kind of record of repeated mass shootings?

Can happen anywhere...like, say, Texas. Two mass shootings at Fort Hood, the Luby's shooting in the early 90's, and Charles Whitman aka the Tower Shooter at UT Austin in the 60s.

There are three people dead. Nine are injured and will likely have effects that last their lifetime. Families are irretrievably broken.

Somehow the impact on Colorado Springs' image does not strike me as being of first import here.

Perhaps an NRA theme park would flourish in Colorado.

Since the NRA's "finest moments" happen here more than anywhere, you might be right

Default Five Fast Facts About Robert Lewis Dear

Five Facts About Robert Lewis Dear, from the heavy.com website

Robert Lewis Dear, the suspected gunman, lived in Hartsel, Colorado.

He is originally from South Carolina and has also lived in North Carolina, records show.

Social media profiles or blogs tied to Dear have not yet been found or do not exist.

He lived in a cabin without running water or electricity when he was in North Carolina, his neighbor told the New York Daily News. “If you talked to him, nothing with him was very cognitive — topics all over place,” James Russell told the Daily News.

He is listed as an unaffiliated registered voter in Park County, Colorado, though the online record states that he is female.

Dear was charged with animal cruelty & ‘Peeping Tom’ in SC.

...his neighbor told police Dear shot his dog with a pellet gun.

The guy's a certifiable whack job. Looking forward to more info on this nutbag.

More info on the shooter in the WaPo today.

Excerpt:
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — To neighbors, it looked like a “moonshine shack,” a little yellow wooden hut, with overgrown weeds and no power or indoor plumbing... whenever Dear came to stay in his shack ... neighbors ... kept their kids inside.

“He was the kind of person you had to watch out for” .... “He was a very weird individual. ... he had a weird look in his eye most of the time.”

Dear ... appears to have been a malcontent who drifted from place to place... In addition to the shack, he lived in a mobile home in another town in NC and a camper on a piece of vacant land in CO, which he shared with a woman who moved with him from the East Coast.

... he seemed delusional and aggressive ... history of run-ins with neighbors and police ... arrests for cruelty to animals and ... “peeping Tom.” ... Colleton County police released reports of at least seven other incidents where Dear had disputes or physical altercations with neighbors or other residents.

“He complained about everything,” said the neighbor. “He said he worked with the government, and everybody was out to get him, and he knew the secrets of the U.S.A. He said, ‘Nobody touch me, because I’ve got enough information to put the whole U.S. of A in danger.’ It was very crazy.”

For sure, this guy is from the tin foil hat crowd.... much more info in the article ...
