Is the amount and number of days you guys are getting snow this Dec normal? This is in north Colorado Springs. We are closing on our house Christmas Eve. We are planning on heading up after Christmas to do tiling etc in the new house during Christmas break for the kids. However, it looks like another system is passing through right after Christmas which may delay travel plans. Trying to schedule lowes to deliver tile and getting our dumpster there is getting tricky with these snow storms. We can leave our tile outside in the snow because the boxes would get wet and disintegrate so someone has to be there to put over 200 boxes of tile in the garage to keep it safe from the weather. Can't get up there until roads clear through Raton Pass in NM which is suppose to get hit dec 26-28 and have to stay in ABQ until after Xmas. Looks like you guys are getting more snow too.

There is no 'normal' here. Every year it seems to be different.

Could you have your tile held at a Lowes store and pick it up when you get in town?

We cant pick up that much tile but they can hold it and deliver it later. It's just crazy the weather systems that are going through the whole swath from ABQ to CoS but this may be typically and we are now starting to learn about it because we will travel it frequently. Moving across states and renovating while you are not in town isn't for the faint of heart I guess.
My family will get up there though. Thanks for everything everyone. As always it's been very helpful coming to this forum.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Colorado Springs folks!

This is an El Nino year. In El Nino years, we tend to get a bit higher precipitation than some other years. Much better than drought, though - anyone from here will tell you that! I think we are getting a little more precip in December than some years (some years we have almost none), but as beezle said there is no normal here, every year is a bit different. But also the area you chose to move into - if any snow comes here, it pretty much always hits there. This has been a mild winter so far for that area, all told.

You can see the averages and record highs/lows here Intellicast - Colorado Springs Historic Weather Averages in Colorado (80914) given the El Nino the temperatures are probably much higher than normal this year.
