Ok here is my next question. Can anyone tell me how frequent leptospirosis cases are in CS and specifically the northern edge of Black Forest? My vet in ABQ is wanted to get my dogs vaccinated for leptospirosis, acknowledging it only is effective for 4 out of the 7 strains. I'm curious if I can find any historical area data related to this. I know I post the oddest things here but maybe someday someone else will benefit.

I know we can go through a debate about vacinations vs not but I'm trying to find data of cases. I'll post my opinion about vaccines if this goes down that path.

You used to hardly ever hear of it, but there have been more cases in the past 10 years. Our neighbor across the street lost their miniature schnauzer to lepto 4 years ago, they were heartbroken. We vaccinate our three dogs against it and have had no issues with the vaccine. There are however certain dog breeds that are more prone to risk of side effects from the vaccine so keep that in mind.

Here is a link to an article from last year about lepto exposure along the front range that has some good information http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...ng-front-range
