Hey guys me and a couple friends are moving to Colorado Springs and I was wondering what the bad areas were so i could look for apartments not in them. I would like to move to an area that is safe. I know every city has the good side and the bad side. So if you could enlighten me as to where that is then I would be most appreciative. Also if you could refer some good yet inexpensive apartment complexes in those areas that would be hella great. Thanks.

I would recommend the Westside of Colorado Springs. There are 4-plex apartments scattered around just north of Old Colorado City.

They have some nice, large apartment buildings on 8th street that are relatively affordable by Colorado Springs all of the sudden sky-high rents. The area is also very scenic, like living in the mountains.

Personally, I would say the Citadel area and Southeastern Colorado Springs is in area that I personally and many others I know wouldn't want to live in. Colorado Springs though has been getting safer and much more expensive.

There are also many small 4 plex apartments scattered around the westside north of Old Colorado City that tend to rent for decent prices and the area has quite a few shopping amenities and is relatively safe.

Southeast Colorado Springs had a very rough period between 2010-2014 but it has calmed down as even that is expensive now by historical standards. In fact I think there has been a very rapid decline in the crime rates in the southern part of the city, then again I think many priced out of other parts of Colorado just leave the state now as Colorado Springs is not a low-cost alternative for apartments anymore.

Big single family homes are massive bargain in the Springs but apartment rents are only slightly less then other parts of the front range.

An older apartment near Chapel Hills in a really nice area is $800 a month for a 1 bedroom, that same older apartment might be $700 in Southeastern Colorado Springs but there won't be any where remotely near the retail amenities just in the name of saving an extra hundred a month.

Colorado Springs is not the ultra-low cost, no barrier to entry city it was a couple of years ago. I think the cities problems were increasing just a few years ago from people moving from Denver to Colorado Springs for much lower rents but now rents in Colorado Springs are not much cheaper then Denver.

Are you moving in with friends in a house? If so the lowest rent single-family houses are in Fountain by far also the further east of Powers you go the cheaper it gets.

Fountain is a single-family home suburb but it seems like there are more rentals down there and the prices for rents on single-family homes are lower.
