My parents live in a classic home community built in 1995, in Colorado Springs. The houses in the neighborhood still look great and are in excellent condition. If you want to view an example of a great looking older classic homes community in terms of the long term viability of the neighborhood, and quality of constuction, check out the older mid 90s built Briargate and Pine creek developments.

When we built our home 5 years ago we talked to a lot of people. Classic is a hit or miss. If you have a problem it is very hard to get fixed. Terrible customer service. Although they are a semi-custom builder they charge for "any" change to their original plan. Do not expect to get what you see in their models. They are loaded with extras that will cost. We built with Masterbilt and have never had a problem with the product or customer service, ever! I would also recommend Campbell homes.

Like I said in my first post on this topic . . . it doesn't matter who builds homes every once in a while there will be a problem home. You have to look at the big picture and how frequently a builder has issues. I'm friends with my salesperson since building, and look at this info they shared:

Classic Homes named #1 New Home Quality by JD Powers (2nd year in a row):
Ratings | J.D. Power

Classic Homes Awarded "Excellence in Customer Service" by Better Business Bureau (3 times in last 8 years):
Colorado Springs, CO: Former Recipients

Default classics rock

We are closing on a classic home 27 aug 09. The process was really orchestrated well. Every week the building superintendent gave us Friday updates, as well as we did our own checking. Overall I am very pleased with classics. I will say when the market was way low they were the first to bring down there prices in accordance with the market. As for the other builders in the Wolf Ranch area, there prices were reflecting when the market was high, so most people gravitated to classics, plus they are currently giving free full basements. If you want more info let me know.

Most of the local builders in the area say they will not lower home prices and end up undercutting people they sold homes to the previous year. Business does slow down for them and they will sometimes offer some incentives other than lowering home price.

Overall, sales in Pine Creek and Cordera of existing homes show little to no drop in value. Not sure what is happening in Wolf Ranch to cause Classic to lower prices? Briargate area home sales have had less time on market compared to other parts of the Springs - most likely due to the school district being highly rated (D20). I do know that Classic asked to build in Cordera recently and the developer almost let them but the residents got in an uproar so they are still excluded.
