Does anyone know if there are any movie theatres within a reasonable distance that have cry rooms? Thanks!

Sorry, but I am not sure such a thing exists anymore. Most people seem to just take their children out of the theater and walk around the halls for awhile....

I hope to one day experience a theater that bans children. Countless times a child has ruined a film I paid good money to see. I would also like to pay extra for no ads just a film also I should be allowed to drink alcohol in the theater.

What you want is Kimballs Peak Theatres in the downtown area. Never seen a kid in there and they have bar service with drinks you may take to your seat. We used to go for matinee prices and if you park in the city garage on Kiowa at Nevada (also the bus terminal) you can park there for $1 if after 2PM.

Good food next door at Springs Orleans, or any number of places a few steps away.

Otherwise we went to regular theaters, on weekdays, in the early afternoon, while school was in session. We tend to sit in the very top row with no behind us to cough or sneeze on us or to sit there chattering away. Often times we were the only ones in the places or there'd be only a few other older folks (retirees like us). Even for better movies we'd wait a week or two for the crowds to die down from the initial releases.

If they put most first run movies on cable pay per view we'd probably just stay home to watch on our own TV and save the driving.

Haven't been to Kimballs since it was the old Peak Theater. It was a real step back in time with balconies, huge swagged curtains, black light murals of local attractions. I suppose as the Three Peak Theatre now, they have sub-divided all that area to allow multiple screens. Better to survive than get torn down I suppose.

Another one on the north end many moons ago was the Theater and Draft House. Large, open style, more of a restaurant than theater, with full menu and bar service.

The 3rd screen is actually upstairs and rather small, but the small room can be part of the charm, eh.

Last time we were there the main theater was room #1 which had new seating installed. Room #2 still has the older seats that aren't too wide.

Kimballs is great and everyone should try it at least once. A unique experience for sure, and I love it. But don't go there looking for the latest blockbuster. They usually play more indy/artsy films that you may or may not have heard of.
