From what I can tell, that have to have a verifiable minimum income. I'm guessing there is most likely a background check and a credit check too.

Now, they could be forgetting to add their live in baby dad or boyfriend or whoever, who does deal drugs....but it seems at least one party would have to be somewhat responsible.

The Broadmoor Bluffs Neighborhood Association is organized as a non-profit in Colorado to be a voice for the neighborhood to interface with neighbors, Homes Owers Associations, media, city officials, developers, property managers to keep the neighborhood a safe and beautiful place to live!

The BBNA is currently requesting donations to pay our public relations officer, our recently hired technical specialists, and our attorney Steve Milliken for their expert advice concerning the workforce/low-income apartment complex to be built off Broadmoor Bluffs Drive, behind the Safeway, near Pinon Valley Elementary and Cheyenne Mountain Elementary Schools.

We are concerned with the location of this 60-unit low-income project -- on an unstable landslide area in a hillside overlay in-fill lot, just .25 miles from the FEMA landslide buyout area on Broadmoor Bluffs Dr. The only ingress/egress is a private truck delivery route (easement) used by Safeway & the liquor store for deliveries. Additionally, there are no sidewalks to comply with federal ADA regulations, endangering children and the handicapped. When our new neighbors move in, we want to ensure they are safe, just as we want our own families to be safe!"

Any ideas on how genuine the above is? They want $40k for the children of low income families to be safe... totally sounds legit and not self motivated at all.

It sounds legit, but why does an HOA need to hire a public relations officer, an attorney, and technical specialists to fight a new low income development? A public relations officer?????

The elephant in the room is that they fear "those people". But they can't say that. It's politically incorrect.

If that development was going to be condos that sold for $400K each, you wouldn't hear a peep from that HOA.

I'm thinking the Elites who live in the area do not want to mingle with the lower-income folks at Safeway when they are picking up their $8 lattes in the morning.

NIMBYism at its best!

What kind of elite gets their lattes from Safeway? COS can't even support a local coffee shop and considers the Starbucks kiosk in Safeway to be elite?

There's a "your town so suburban" joke to be found somewhere here.

Okay maybe they get it at Black Bear Coffee in the Safeway shopping center.

Sadly, that's the closest Safeway to my house, and while typically we go to Sprouts...I thought it was sort of trashy compared to the one in Highlands Ranch.

These people live in a bubble of self importance. It really highlights some of the issues here I think, hopefully they're in for a major correction.

Right? Hahaha.

According to their PR guy or whoever, they're so special and elite that the workforce residents will feel like they're on an island, living by a Safeway with a Starbucks and all...a liquor store...some condos. I'm sure it'll be a complete shock..
