I completely agree with otowi. We were going to drag our kids to a charter school 9 miles away from home, decided that was really stupid and they are going to school 3 minutes from our house. Best choice we ever made. We all feel so very connected to our community because of this choice.

I agree with otowi as well. CSAP scores are dead data. I wasted about an hour of my life going through and checking out CSAP data for some schools. They change every year and are useless!

I also personally check to see what activities are offered in the school- athletics, art, music, things like that. What special classes are offered? Is it bread-and-butter or are there neat offerings? That will show how the district views education. 12 has special Spanish classes that focus on dialect and cultures of specific Spanish speaking countries.

I'm really curious to hear the commute time on I-25, and if there are any other viable alternatives to head north/south besides 83. How is traffic at rush hour? I have only lived in the Springs proper and we are thinking of looking at other areas as well!

I commute on I-25 from south of the Springs to Fillmore and it is a very pleasant, easy commute most of the time.

Agreed. Many schools have special programs that make them unique. Like Palmer and I think Rampart have IB, Coronado has robotics and the largest CU Gold college credit program in the city, great music programs, space science programs, great art programs, great service learning programs - all these are out there and are much stronger selling points for schools than CSAP if for some reason you don't think your neighborhood school cuts it (which there are very very few I could think that would really be the case).
