Finding a half acre, or more in the city could prove to be a bit more challenging than on the outskirts, or more seasoned areas in Colorado Springs. However, the aforementioned areas of Security/widefield/fountain, Monument, Black Forest, Broadmoor Bluffs, Broadmoor, possibly central, and eastern areas may be more feasible depending on your budget and exact needs/desires when it comes to what specifically you are looking for in regards to schooling. Varying school districts have varying strengths and amenities.

We will try to find a realtor/broker before we fly out there, but in the meantime, we would love some recommendations on where to start looking. I'll be working from home, so having broadband is a must.

Thank you, Britt
Here is a new listing on a third acre lot with views and in District 20.

Actually was sold new in 1992 for $178,800.

Interesting that the sale in 2006 was near the start of the economy crashing- I wonder if that seller was in the flipping frenzy atmosphere at the time since he sold for a loss (probably) to the current owner.

Glad I bought my two houses (one rental and my primary residence) back in 1989.

I might suggest Rockrimmon neighborhood on the west side or Cheyenne area (mentioned by StarrySkiesAbove), also on the west side. Both are closer to open spaces, N Cheyenne Park, and the great hiking in Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park, and Divide area.

The west side near Rockrimmon does not have many shops, malls, and restaurants (which is exactly what I like about it!) yet it is maybe 10-15 minutes from that. It seems world's away.

I cannot speak on the school system, but Colorado Springs has a depth of public, private, and charter schools to choose from. I might suggest start emailing / calling the schools with questions. You can also check their ratings on the Colorado Department of Education website (https://www.cde.state.co.us/schoolview)
