"RoadHouse Cinemas is remodeling a portion of a former Kmart store, northwest of Nevada Avenue and Fillmore Street, into an eight-screen complex with auditoriums that will seat 48 to 120 people. RoadHouse, which said it prefers to be in secondary markets when it announced last year it was coming to town, is targeting an April opening for its Springs complex.

Every theater has its own niche, Cassell said, and RoadHouse wants to take moviegoing comfort to another level with its dine-in food offerings. While some Gazette readers have said the dine-in concept was offered by at least one movie theater in the 1980s, Cassell said he expects RoadHouse's service to be a present-day first in the city.

Before the start of a film or while it's playing, moviegoers can press a button to receive seat-side food service — ordering off a restaurant menu that will include made-to-order burgers, sandwiches, pizza, all-you-can-eat popcorn and gelato and other desserts, among other items. Colorado craft beers and wine will be available from a full-service bar.

The Bourbon Burger — made with certified Angus beef, hickory smoked cheddar cheese and whiskey onion rings, among other toppings — was a recent menu item at RoadHouse Cinemas' two locations in Arizona. It's the type of food that moviegoers can order when RoadHouse opens a movie theater complex next year in a former Kmart at Nevada Avenue and Fillmore Street in north central Colorado Springs.

Food prepared at an on-site kitchen will be brought to moviegoers, who can enjoy it while leaning back in their seats. Need ketchup or mustard for your burger? They're available along with salt, pepper and napkins from condiment trays installed in between every two seats.

In addition to its theaters, RoadHouse will have a next-door entertainment center, called the RailYard, with duckpin bowling, arcade and virtual reality games, food, a sports bar and patio.

While part of the theater complex, the entertainment center will have its own entrance — allowing both moviegoers and customers who aren’t taking in a film to play the latest arcade, virtual reality and other games."

Drove by this center last night around 7:30. While Vasa is the only place open right now, the parking lot was packed! It looked like K-Mart during a Christmas sale.

A drive in movie theatre, would be fun. At least in the summer. Can't wait for the new theatre to open; what a great benefit to this side of town!!! Spring, 2020? Sounds great.

RoadHouse Cinemas delivers dine-in film experience alongside gaming, gastro spot

https://www.csindy.com/food_and_cult...e9bdea0bd.html

"For years, Kimball’s theater enjoyed the exclusive privilege locally of serving booze during movies, sending cinephiles to their seats not only loaded with popcorn and candy, but also area craft beers and fine wines. It remains the go-to option for those who want to support an indie operation, but some multiplexes eventually got their acts together and began handing out hooch, too, making it less of a novelty to sip suds while taking in a blockbuster.

Then along comes recently opened RoadHouse Cinemas to up the ante with not just popcorn and hooch, but full dinner service, to include a coffee and gelato bar. With prior locations in Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona, they’re a small chain aiming to grow in secondary markets, representatives told the Colorado Springs Business Journal last year.

Attached to the eight-screen theater, Rail-yard Gaming + Gastropub acts as both the theater’s restaurant and bar arm and an arcade — with duckpin bowling, sports games like basketball toss, and consoles like Beat Saber and Halo. Occupying the cavernous former Kmart location, it all makes for an impressive overhaul and revitalization (along with VASA Fitness) of an aging strip mall. "

"My hat’s off to the service staff, who duck down so as not to block the screen and respond to call buttons located seat-side (kind of like flight attendants) and manage to whisper loud enough to be heard through masks (yes, COVID precautions are in place, including empty buffer seats to spread guests around). They whisk orders away on notecards. Dim lights over wide armrests on the recliner seats make it easy to read menus without unwanted glare that distracts from the film. Sturdy TV trays swivel across your lap so dining’s easy enough in the dark. The only unavoidable factor is not seeing my food well enough to mix ingredients in my Cantina Bowl for even bites, so carne asada can be chewed with the cilantro-lime brown rice, black beans, corn, pico, avo and garnishes, all hit with lemon vinaigrette. Messy as my attempts are (while transfixed by John David Washington on-screen), I remind myself that someone has just brought me a decent $8 California pinot noir and a filling, healthy-feeling meal (a fair $11) all at the push of a button — modern convenience and livin’ large. "

Interesting, went to all links, clicked onto "Showtimes" ---thought I'd pop over for a movie and see the place.
No Showtimes listed. I have no idea when they even open the theater.
Do they have matinees? Only evenings?

Odd or different movies showing. Some old ones. I understand. It's not like the new 007 is even being released!
I saw great photos of the seating - 2 seats with trays, very nice.
I'll let you know.
Any help? I mean when you click Showtimes you'd think there would be showtimes listed, LOL

Oh. Cuz I drove up to the theater and the bar/restaurant whatever is next to it...there
were signs all over the doors --but, only about wearing masks.
No information like a menu posted, movie times, hours of operation.
I sure hope it makes it, ok.
