Before you ever head out to the festivities, make sure you plan a sober ride home, because driving drunk should never be an option.

Help us spread the message: "Even one drink is one drink too many. Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.”

Even one drink is one drink too many? I'm not going to tell anyone that. That statement undermines the film's purpose.

Is this the Army that keeps Soldiers up for 24 hours on duty and then lets them drive home the same Army that says 1 drink is too many to drive?

Thanks for the concern Army_Guy. Fort Carson Mountain Post Living is a concept to promote active and healthy lifestyles while connecting Soldiers (and family members) within the Fort Carson and Colorado Springs communities.

This video was produced by the Fort Carson Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). We can't necessarily go into details on other Army policies.

I (personally) was on active duty and was allowed to sleep when doing 24-hour duty stints. Leadership style and the ability to rotate responsibilities helps balance work and rest effectively.

We do appreciate the concern and will certainly take your messaging into consideration when creating future content.

1. One drink is not too many. Whatever number makes someone be above .08 is too many.

2. Buzzed driving is not necessarily drunk driving.

3. Hashtags don't work on City Data.

I'm as opposed to drunk driving as anyone, but the way to get the message across is not through obviously-false statements like "One drink is too many."

Wittengenstein's Ghost, thanks for the reply. This video was completed by the Fort Carson Army Substance Abuse Program. We'll forward up your concern. As a reminder, Colorado is a zero-tolerance state (Source: https://statelaws.findlaw.com/colora...-dui-laws.html). In essence, one drink might be too many especially if a person gets pulled over.

The link you posted says that being a "zero tolerance" state refers to drivers under the age of 21 getting a DUI at lower level, not people over 21. Am I wrong on that?

I just think that setting up ridiculous standards that no one is going to follow is not helpful. I think a much more effective approach would be something like "Did you know that just three beers, if consumed too quickly, can put an average-sized man over the legal limit?" I agree that "regular" levels of drinking can be dangerous and illegal, particularly if done too quickly. But "one drink is too many" isn't going to resonate with anyone because they are going to assume it is some overblown, nonsense stat -- which it is.

Zero-tolerance is primarly for under 21 (which makes up 10-20%) of the Army's Soldier population. Most states have a 0.8 threshold (which is still pretty low). Sources like Businessinsider.com show that 2-3 alcohol drinks can get most people to the 0.8 threshold.
