I can tell you what I don't like about Colorado.... Our worthless ******* of a governor.

Did you see that he wants to raise vehicle registration fees even higher?

I think he has been our best governor in a long time much better then governor Owens.

He already did more for Pueblo by getting Vesta's to move here and forcing the state to audit why the Springs got the DOC HQ then Owens did his 2 terms.

The Springs does have some issues but as someone who was trying to move to Pueblo 2 years it definitely has alot of issues! The downtown is growing and I also did have a good time at the Chilli Festival but there is alot undesirable places. And the issue is that it isn't one area it is spread here and there. Now what I would want to change about the Springs is the homeless issue!

The Springs they could have a outstanding downtown if they put more resources on it. It could be the second largest in the state by far. They could have a wonderful business district with nice high rises, nice art deco district then if they moved the power plant could use that to make the downtown even bigger and have it run west in some way towards Manitou and old Colorado City like downtown Denver does towards Cherry Creek.

The problem is if they wait, even just 10 years, Pueblo will keep working on redeveloping their downtown and once it gets to a certain level it will be nearly impossible for the downtown Springs to ever have the kind of prominence it could now. Better for Pueblo as it gives that city a second chance most cites don't get to regain their stature but not good for the Springs.

Like it or not cities are not judged on how good they are by the "suburbs" but by the downtown's.

If Pueblo doesn't clean up the State Fair and the crowd that hangs out at the resovior then everyone is going to be to scared to go down there.

Ok I will take the bait.... Both cities have crime just look at what has happened in the Springs with gang violence.

But my point stands, and the Springs is judged on their downtown and that will decide if you guys become a world class city or just a sprawling "city" in between Pueblo and Denver. Colorado Springs is at the cross roads now, you guys will never get a chance like this again to develop or not develop it.

Sometimes being defensive is needed. e.g.: Inaccurate or unsubstantiated statements are made.

P.S.: Speaking your personal opinion is ok, and I agree that there is not necessarily a need for defensive responses in those cases.

I am talking about what Colorado Springs need to do to help their downtown by using Pueblo and Denver as examples. That is on topic.
