I have nothing against anyone, race, creed, color, or religious affiliation. I firmly believe in live and let live and served my country in support of that freedom. I raised my children to believe the same. However, my youngest son married into a FotF family who is Southern Baptist by denomination and is now very narrowed minded about many things and very judgmental. The worst thing about it is he doesn’t see it. He believes that anyone who doesn't believe "their" ways or isn't "saved" is to be tolerated because that's the polite thing to do to people whom are doomed to damnation. We have had many discussions on the subject and I've come to accept that we just agree to disagree. However, the grandparents on the other side basically have no restrictions while I am limited to my time with my grandchildren, told not to discuss things with them without prior consent from my son and his wife based on topic content. I wasn't even allowed to take my 14-year-old granddaughter to Denver for a day of shopping for her birthday, but the FotF grandparents took her all the way to Texas for a week of summer vacation. I don't blame FotF for my son's actions, he's a grown man and has to make his own decisions, but they have been a significant influence in his life. In my mind, a Christian is a good-hearted person, who doesn't not judge nor disown blood family because their beliefs may be different. The reason I bring all this up is that, I hope with all sincerity that not all FotF are like that and for those who are, please open your hearts and your minds. Your focus has caused pain to this family.
COFlower, you had some good comments.

Focus on the family has changed considerably -- in the beginning they were mainly about giving parenting advice to Christian families, mostly in pretty nonthreatening ways. Now, they've morphed into a political action group who have moved further and further away from representing the views of the mainstream of Christian evangelicals. From my experience, even the majority of evangelical Christians no longer unconditionally support what FOTF is doing, though of course they have their die-hard supporters.
