We are planning to drive from Austin to Colorado Springs in mid March.
I would like to know which route should I take from Austin, I-35 North through Fort Worth/Wichita Falls or 183 through Abilene/Lubbock?
Is it an easy drive in mid March?
Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Depends on the weather. Barring a blizzard, just stick tot he main roads and you'll be fine.

I've gone I-35 north then cut across through the smaller roads to cross into New Mexico just below the Colorado border. It is a quick route but can cause problems when there is snow/ice. The smaller roads going into New Mexico can be closed in bad weather and when they are open I've seen many people who slid off the road driving too fast for the conditions.
