I think it functions just fine as it is... 4 lanes is more than adequate for I-25. I don't know when you drive it, but I drive up to Denver around 3:30 once a week (during the week) and am usually able to drive 9 over except in Castle Rock and Denver where the speed limit is decreased. If anything, we need commuter rail so we can all just abandon our cars.

Not when I drive it, both lanes are full of cars, maybe its not grid lock but the state should be forward thinking and widen it now before that is a major issue. With all the developments planned for the front range urban corridor the traffic will only increase.

It's never that both lanes are full of cars when I drive it. There are just idiots in both lanes driving 65. I really wish we'd stop trying to solve all the non-problems of driving and start solving the real ones. Make the idiot cops stop people for driving too slow in the left lane and being a general nuisance on the road. If they actually did that instead of just setting up their Hazzard County speed traps, the roads would be alot better.

Half the problem would be solved if trucks were not allowed in the passing lane at all. Most of the issues I see are tractor trailer trucks farting around in the passing lane.

Now get out of my way and get to the right

Or the front range toll road would be nice.

Yep, another good idea. I've always thought that they should stay in the far right lanes, even it's just a two lane road. Also, they should have mandatory spacing requirements as well. Shouldn't have 20 trucks 5 feet from each other.

Bottom line, if everyone would just drive with courtesy and efficiency we wouldn't need 20 lane roads and special toll roads. Maybe I'm still just spoiled after living in Germany, but I've seen it work.
