We live in Woodland, behind the Walgreens on Paradise Cr. My wife took these pics last Thursday (Elk):

We are still waiting to see our first bear though! See lots of deer and fox around our place!

Let me add that Pronghorn are prevalent here too. They are like small antelope and can be seen in fields in the area.

What about grizzlies?

Grizzly Bear sightings are still reported regularly along the front range and deeper into the mountains of CO For example, this one,

"I seen a Grizzly bear in SW Colorado with my own eyes and watched it for about a 30 seconds."
Grizzly bears reportedly spotted near Independence Pass, Colorado ! ? « Ralph Maughan’s Wildlife News
(Which sort of tells you what sort of folks are reporting them)

However, the last confirmed sighting of a grizzly in our state was on Sept. 23, 1979, when an elk hunter was attacked by a female grizzly in what is now the South San Juan Wilderness. The hunter survived the attack, but unfortunately the grizzly was killed.

I backpacked in the exact area the Grizzly was killed. It was near Blue Lake. The South San Juans are truly special to me.

Be sure to know the difference of black bears (which are common here in the Springs) and grizzlies (which you will not see). The black bears are much smaller but they are still bears. I saw one at my apartment complex in the SW part of town a few years back. Several people were taking pictures and gawking at the bear which was a couple hundred feet away.

I have seen alot of deer out off north 30th by Flying W area. Also in the Cheyenne Mtn. on the way to Helen Hunt you will see they wandering around. But if want to see bears go to the camp ground called Golden Eagle on South 115 west of Ft. Carson they come down trying to dig in the garbage cans alot. We did even see crawfish when we were down there fishing one year.

Who said houseflies.... that was funny!

In Colorado Springs, near Ute Valley Park:

Raccoons
Fox
Rabbits (in nightmarish amounts!)
Black Bears--we have some great stories and pics through the years. My son saw some up the street the other day...
Coyote
Deer--too many! They will decimate your yard, and for some reason like to set their trail through ours. I saw 12 grazing at the neighbor's yesterday.
Squirrels
Chipmunks
Birdies
Butterflies
Bees
Other stingy things like wasps or yellowjackets
A mountain lion years ago in the middle of one of our neighborhood streets, which made me freeze and walk away very carefully.....
The neighbor's dog
