Some family members are planning on visiting at the end of August or the beginning of September and I'm just trying to round up some events (festivals, carnivals, faires, etc) to take them to. I've done a bit of online research and it doesn't seem like much is going on those weekends but I was hoping that some locals might have some ideas that didn't make it up on the event calendars? Thanks!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind the drive. Do you know what days/weekends it runs? Thanks.

Sure it starts August 28 and ends on labor day, September 7. They have rodeos, concerts and more. Here is their website:

What about the Balloon Festival? It's Labor Day weekend:

Colorado Balloon Classic is the largest and the longest continuously running hot air balloon festival in the Rocky Mountain Region and the State of Colorado.

Palmer lake is having their return of Chautauqua Assembly August 7-9

Last year's event was the first one in almost 100 years and this year's even is a lot more elaborate. So, it's a really nascent event and I did not go last year, so I can't speak for how good it will be. But, looking at the schedule, it seems pretty interesting, and I'm sure that at the very least History buffs will find it interesting.
