I know I'm probably beatin a dead horse here, AND going on a tangent...but, is the produce really that much more expensive? I mean, since there aren't an abundance of ethnic restauants, I can cook some stuff myself. I love cooking and we eat a LOT of produce here. Fresh veggies, salads (bbq chicken salad with italian vinaigrette is a fave of ours), and tons of fruit. Will we miss out on that when we come to COS?

As Californians, we refuse to pay more than $1.50 for an avocado or a bag of onions, no more than a dollar for a bag of carrots, head of lettuce, bunch of celery, 5 limes, or 3 lemons. I have a feeling we've been spoiled and those days will be over soon.
Afraid you may have to pay a little more for vegiies here~ recomend you at least try rancho liborio on circle~ good place for a lot of vegie at resonable prices~ also got an oriental store just off platte that should help oriental items on your list. There are a lot of asian and mexican places in town but cannot recommend because I'm new in town also!

purely amazing. you can't find this kind of hospitality here in the bay area. everyone's afraid of everyone else. Thanks so much for the kindness.

Thanks for the tip -- I know we'll be on the hunt for good priced veggies and I'll be sure to check those places out when we get down there. My bf is more of a bargain shopper than I am, so I know he'll check them out for sure! Esp. on stir fry night, gotta have my asian veggies.

As someone who grew up in central California and now live "up the hill" from Colorado Springs in Divide I can attest to the fact that produce here is NOTHING like it is in California. The selection is not as big, it's not a fresh, and it costs more. Some things in particular are melons, citrus, plums, nectarines, peaches, and grapes. There ARE exceptions and in the summer if you can find a farmers market you will get the best Colorado has to offer and it's pretty darn good. My bad comments are mostly about the produce you find in the super market. I've even had hit or miss results from Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck).

I've never cared for fruit, and after having eaten fruit on the coast a few times, I attribute the fact that I never have once craved fruit in my life to being a 4th generation native Coloradoan - at this point it is probably in my DNA.

The best hummus Arabica Cafe! Re: Nosh -- I've been less than impressed with the food. Interior and drinks are great tho! The first time was the tastiest, after @ 6 times I've given up.
