A ski resort in such close proximity to The Springs would be huge for the economies of all the little towns up there on the west side of the mountain! I have always thought of Colorado Springs as a vacation destination, and this can only be seen as a positive.

"IF" it can be realized, of course.

I don't know. Ski Broadmoor and the alpine slide with it failed - what is different about this I wonder?

Ski Broadmoor had issues because it was on the east facing side of the mountain thus it was always icy. I think the population of the area a good ski resort would do great.

I honestly don't really care if it would turn the Springs into a winter vacation destination or if the skiing would be all that great. I just want a close affordable ski hill where I can teach my kids to ski.
I learned at the Broadmoor, and it was great. I was able to take classes every Saturday for an entire winter. I would love to be able to give my kids a similar experience.

I counted five (5) ski areas that failed in the Pikes Peak region.

I just hope this new effort (number six) doesn't get as far as cutting down trees to make ski runs.

Another thing to keep in mind was the population back then was much less then now as there is over 600,000 people in the Pikes Peak Region alone and if add Pueblo then its over 750,000 people. On top of that we have two local universities that are growing, UCCS and CSU Pueblo, and college kids love to ski. So it will be easier for a ski area to get operate successfully now then it was even 30 years ago.
