The main public (north) entrance to the USAFA is on I-25 at exit 156 (aka North Gate Rd).

The south end of town would be in the vicinity of Fort Carson, which at exit 135 (aka S. Academy Blvd).

That's 21 miles.

It took DH to 40 minutes to drive from exit 132 to Fire Station 2 on USAFA. We lived near Mesa Elementary in Ftn and drove it at 6:30am and at 7:30am. So one morning he would leave the house at 6:30am and arrive 7:05 or so and then the following morning would leave USAFA at 7:30ish and arrive home around 8:10ish.
Hope that helps!

Are you talking about 'as the crow flies' or 'freeway miles' and where would you define as the 'south edge of town'?

You can use the ruler tool in google earth to draw a line (either as crow flies or following the freeway) between any two points you desire. i just did so, between the northern edge of AFA to fort carson and got 21.56 miles.
