My wife and I are seriously thinking about moving to COS in a few years. It would be very helpful if i could get a few questions answered.

How hard will it be to find a good apartment to live in?
My wife will be working as a traveling nurse. How would you rate the quality of the hospitals?
Does anybody know if a Texas teachers certification is valid in Col.
I am a high school coach. How would you rate the athletic programs in COS?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I can only answer the apartment situation.

I went from living in a privately-owned (not commercial) rented home for 11 years to an apartment this last June. My credit is good, I have a dog and a cat and found a decent place with decent rental pricing. Pretty much average price for the size.

Other than the typical apartment living, it's a pretty nice place on the north end of town. I feel safe here and have met some very nice fellow apartment dwellers.

So, if you can afford it, have first and last month's rents, deposit and such, it's not hard to find rentals here at the moment. How that pans out in a "few years" only time will tell but I was able to get everything taken care of within a week and a half.

Thanks,

We are still a few years away from acually doing anything. We took a short vacation up there last Christmass and fell in love with the place. We're not planning on buying a house so we will be looking for an apt. that we could live in for a few years. Your right though, there is no telling what anything might be like two years from now.

Tons of apartments here, all over town.

Hospitals are very good, we have 4 major ones.

Check the websites for various school districts for advice on certs, or try searching on these forums with the search term certification as I know we've talked about that before. Here's a link that may work for you.

Schools here have all the sports and football is especially active.

there are good apartments all over town. I'd recommend anything off Rockrimmon Blvd, Stetson Hills and Woodmen.

Not hard. Just pick a neighborhood and then find a place when you're ready.

Several decent hospitals here, plenty of work for good nurses. But I should tell you... it seems like 4/5 folks on this forum who are planning a move to the COS area are nurses. Followed closely by teachers and contractors.

Some of them are quite good. others not so good. I don't know the D#s though.
