That time again... to tour the Colorado section of the Santa Fe Trail. Hope you enjoy some of these;

From the eastern part of Bent County to the Fort;

While I was down here, a guy asked me how they crossed this river (Arkansas) for trade. It didn't hit me at the time, but the actual Bents Fort was further east and on the other side of the river.

Just a little garder snake

Nice but shouldn't this be on the Colorado photo thread?

Not necessarily. We have a lot of photo tours in here that are separate threads of their own as most times there's a good deal of follow-on postings that go along with them. As the moderator, I often work like a Librarian, keeping all the knowledge on a topic in one spot (thread). Going forward, any discussion of Bent's Old Fort will be in this thread and not lost in a general "picture of the day" thread.

Kind of a Western version of Williamsburg, a well done re-creation.

Default Another nice job

McGowdog......another fine job. Hope you had a nice trip. I will forward the link to the folks at the Fort. They always appreciate seeing what is posted about them. Still owe you a set up for some aerial views. Let me know and we'll work on it.

I can't believe I missed this one! Great tour, McGowdog!

One question-- how much of what you see in the fort is really a relic from back in the day, and how much of it has been modernly retrofitted to make it look the way it was imagined to once be?
