Man, Keystone is so beautiful! I went there about two weeks ago for a church camp (Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas). The scenery there is so amazing! There was a lot of development going on as well. All of the stores have nice facades on the outside, especially that one big Target. We stayed at the River Run Village resort, and that Starbucks was packed everyday! I will upload my pictures once I find my cord. The air was hard to get use to at first, but I got the hang of it.

One of my best friends from childhood is a realtor in Keystone/Silverthorne/Frisco...basically all of Summit County.

Anyhow, living up there is not cheap. Condos with one bedroom are way out there in terms of price. I love the area (parents used to have a condo in Breck and later a house in Blue River) but dang if it's not out of the budget for most people.

Keystone is nice. The views at Keystone itself are nice, but there are better views in the area. The spectacular views in the area are just down the canyon towards Loveland Pass, or across the valley towards the Tenmile Range, or north towards the Gore Range.

The reason maybe not many people have opinions about Keystone is that it is just a resort area -- it's not a real town that people live in. Keystone is pretty much just the resort village (River Run & Mountain House) + the condos/vacation homes around. The nearest residential area is Summit Cove, just north of the Stone. Just north of that are Dillon and Silverthorne. The big Target you mentioned is not in Keystone. It's about 10 miles north, in Silverthorne (which is the main residential town for locals in the area).

And the developments and nice stores you talk about -- many residents don't want too much of that. It's a catch-22 -- it brings in tourist dollars which supports the local economy, but also destroys the beauty of the place, makes it more crowded and more expensive. The average home price in Summit County in 1999 was $317K...in 2007, it's $670K!

Wow, that's expensive! My parents actually want to get a condo out in Keystone after looking online at the place. I had a hard time breathing up there at first, but got use to it.

I've heard good things about Keystone's DH course. kwk722, do you do DH, or do you bike up too?

I just do DH - I get a good workout with that alone. I save most of my pedaling for around town and trails.
