Hi everyone,

I've been reading through the forum and its pretty clear now that Pueblo isn't quite what I imagined it to be, but it still might be a lovely place to live. I would really like to live in a heavily forested area...are there any woods near Pueblo, or is it all desert?

Thanks!

There are. Beulah is your best best option. Its a suburb south west of Pueblo and it takes about 20 minutes to get there.

You could go a little further south toward Rye and Colorado city. It's about a 30 minute drive....

CWells, where are you from? If you are from the East Coast, the answer to your question is "no." If you are from Western Kansas, then yes.

^ is an ignorant statement.

Do an advanced search with my username in the title and these keywords;

Photo tour, Colorado City, Rye, San Isabel, Etc... and you will see some forest... to the tune of 12,300 feet plus of elevation.

Can't link from my droid. Go here;

Not so, my friend. No forest in Colorado, not even alpine forests at high altitude, can be called "heavily forested" compared to areas like Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, etc...

My point to the OP is that based on where he/she is from, it may make a difference as to if he/she considers anything in Colorado "heavily forested."

Oh,.well then they need to change the name from San Isabel National Forest to SNF... if you're from western Kansas.

There are areas in the Wet Mountains and Greenhorn Mountain that get 40 inches of precipitation or more a year. Pueblo mountain park is about half an hour from Pueblo and is forested. They have a lodge there as well as places to camp. Pueblo itself is high plains so if you need to live in a heavily forested area it may not be for you.
