Well, there is the Kit Carson Carousel Museum -- which has some fine examples of antique carousels. (Seriously). I'm not aware of any other major attractions, and my only experience in Burlington is several brief stops.

I'm sure the town has just about zero crime, likely has good schools (most rural farm schools are surprisingly good), probably has very low cost of living. If there are any locals on city-data -- they can inform you of the particulars.

It's less than 3 hours from Denver or Colorado Springs, and just over 3 hours to the Rockies, so it's not as isolated as a lot of small towns could be in this part of the country. You could probably even do a skiing day trip if you got up really early.

If you are not used to small towns you probably will be bored. However, there are alot of cool things in town (as many small towns actually do) , go to the city's webpage and see the "recreational activities". There are "Prairie Days" coming up, and the county fair later in the summer.

My wife and I are looking to move there soon to be closer to family, so if you don't take the job let me know what it is! (unless its at the prison)
