Hello - my family and I are relocating to Colorado this summer. We have never been there before minus a less than 24 hour trip to interview for the job. The position is in Denver, I have been looking for homes from Monument up to about Longmont. I have been told that would be way to long of a commute time. I figured I would post in here my wants and hope for some direction. I am looking for a non suburbia area (basically non track homes). I do have kids aging from 17 down to 5 so I do not want to be too isolated. My husband wants the West side of Colorado up on the foothills. I am looking for a community feel. My kids ar all in sports so I would like a place that incorporates that as well. I am looking for a non California feel LOL. We are moving from California. Any help you can give would be appreciated. What are commutes like in CO I understand they are different than CA? Also, since we have never been there before we are looking to rent a 5+ bedroom home, we also have 2 dogs. Let me know what youthink. Very nervous about the move !

Sorry - I guess I should have said the position is in Denver neer littleton really....

Littleton - near work. A 5 bedroom house will be hard enough, 2 dogs, harder still.

If you are renting, then I would suggest you limit your search criteria. I would guess you won't be renting forever.

Most of Littleton, and Denver are suburban in nature, you are facing very limited inventory of your wish list.

There was an article a few weeks back about the rental market being super hot in the Denver area right now. There is very little inventory, so if you find anything that fits your criteria, jump on it quickly.

I wouldn't worry too much...Colorado is a wonderful place to live and there are lots of friendly people here. I think that Evergreen sounds like it would be a nice fit for your family. Check out this link to see the town.... Evergreen Colorado Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center and you should look at local newspapers if you are looking for rentals. Try this......CanyonCourier.com Good Luck with the move.
