I am considering a move to one of these of three counties. I would be commuting to Denver 4 times a week, at off peak hours. I would love to hear any feedback anyone has about driving from these three counties. What is least congested? Any thoughts on what would be the best one to move to? Thanks!

Apparently a lot of people commute from Park Co. I don't know about the other two. Grand would be OK to commute to Boulder, I think to Denver would be a hassle.

I don't mind a long commute to live in a great area, but I think you are nuts. Grand and Summit County will be about 2 hours each way during ideal conditions. On Sunday or Friday afternoons you are looking at about 3 hours and if it is snowing all bets are off.

I agree with BenWolfe, I know quite a few people who commute from the Bailey area, but even that can be quite costly. RTD runs buses up 285 and they have park and ride facilities pretty far reaching, at very least to Evergreen which would make travel a lot more cost effective. Commuting from Grand County would be especially difficult during peak travel seasons because Highway 40 isn't built to handle the congestion that it's often plagued with. I-70, similarly, is over-capacitated and would prove to be a nearly impossible commute.

CDOT does actually have peak travel times on I-70 between Denver and Dumont - they use it to restrict access to over-sized/over-weight loads. Peak travel times are from noon on Fridays to 6 AM on Sunday for WB traffic and noon on Saturdays to 6 AM on Mondays for EB traffic.
