Hi! I'm looking into moving from my hometown in Tahoe to become a ski instructor in Colorado for the season. I just graduated college and am interested in having a good ski season and living the ski life for awhile.

What ski towns would anyone recommend for resort jobs? I know many of them offer employee housing, which I would be interested in. I'm just as much interested in the social aspect amongst employees as I am the actual job, and would like to know peoples' opinions and experiences of working in various resorts.

Very open to stories and suggestions!!!

I spent the last year in boulder and I would highly recommend any of the towns and resorts in summit county. This includes Breckenridge, keystone, arapahoe basin, copper and vail being a little further. I would look for housing in Dillon, Silverthorne and possibly Frisco because it will be a bit cheaper than the big name towns like Breckenridge. I am actually trying to do the same this year with a couple friends so maybe I'll see you out there. As for jobs you should have no trouble getting one just fill out a vail resorts application and that covers almost everywhere.

Here's the website for Vail Resorts Vail Resorts | Jobs.VailResorts.com Ski instructor jobs can be slightly harder to get since many locals come back yearly to teach, the larger resorts generally have more openings because they have more skiers.

Vail and Breck seem to fit your needs best. Jobs are being posted now and housing employee housing goes quickly, it may or may not be a lifestyle you want to live. If you don't want employee housing check the Vail Daily for roommate situations, at the bottom of the Vail Daily page there are links to the other area newspapers, craigslist for the high rockies has lots of listings also.

Thanks for the reply, you guys. Checking into Vail; visited there a couple of weeks ago with family and really liked it. Gorgeous mountains and pretty cool people. Decisions, decisions.

It depends on what you are looking for.
The never ending hustle and bustle of Vail or a more laid back resort.

Crested Butte also has employe housing.
It's a real skiers ski area that is a bit quitter than the resorts along I70

I'm curious about the employee housing in Vail. I haven't read great things about it. Anyone have any insight? Thanks!
