For what is worth I'll note that the trailhead at Wild Basin in RMNP was a zoo today. Combine fairly good weather with fall color and that the likely scenario for the more popular places.

Another note on color. While aspen provide the most color in Colorado, certainly not all of it. If always focused on the greater panorama around the next corner one may miss some truly enchanting landscapes -- which they are standing on. Those thinking Colorado lacks in a profusion of reds, oranges and other hues of the rainbow have not yet climbed down onto their knees and got their nose close enough to the ground yet.

Only today I saw the display of the most vivid reds, from some small plant I know not the name of, but likely missed by anyone else looking for some 'color' in the distance. At a remove in a smaller world it can be quite gloriously colorful.

Elk Creek Road which is North of Chama N.M. Very beautiful this time of year.
Remember, don't feed the bears or poke the Moose with sticks.

The Peak to Peak Scenic Byway should be at peak color later this week and next weekend. The aspen are only about 50-60%, a lot of green trees left to change. There's some beautiful orange this year and the yellow/gold is brilliant.
