It's probably better to somehow get hold of a Pueblo phone book and go through IT. I'm not finding much on the internet on Pueblo. At least it's "better" than The Springs in this one regard: there is more available online for people coming to The Springs to reserve ahead of time but that city was, after all, built to be "the playground for the wealthy." And the prices of the things you'll find advertised and be able to line up beforehand, reflect that!!
Meaning. Pueblo is cheaper. Once you GET there, that is. Try arranging a place to stay beforehand and you'll more likely wind up in The Springs. If that happens, take the South Side - it's closer to Pueblo, obviously.

Since this was first posted 4 years ago, I wonder if the OP found his motel? Anyway the cheapest city to live in Colorado? In the entire state? I guess Olathe.

Some of the towns have local hotels that have weekly or monthly rates for rooms that are basically a minimally-equipped studio apt. They wouldn't necessarily show up on a Google search. Nationally, IME Howard Johnson's has the best rates and offers the most amenities for their low prices. I don't know if they'd be up for negotiating a monthly rate.
