Default Slide Show of Colorado and New Mexico!

I've got some, too! My daughter, Celene, and I just returned from a two-week trip through Colorado and New Mexico. I put some of the photos into two short slide shows. It was a great trip, and I used many of the suggestions from City-Data people!! Thank you everyone!!

Here's some photos from our Highlands Ranch neighborhood when we had the late December blizzard. Please note, this last winter was no way a typical winter here (had to add the disclaimer).

We got a good 30" or so of snow with drifts up to 4ft.

Frosty is up to his chin. Our other lawn decorations are totally buried or barely visible.

Hard to tell that I cleared off the driveway the afternoon before. Glad I bought a snow blower when we moved here. We helped dig several neighbors out with it.

Also hard to tell, but in some places the snow was higher than the top of the snow blower intake, so I did some tunneling.

A drift on our front doorstep, with my daughter showing just how deep it was.
Notice -- California girl with light jacket (unzipped for that matter), so it wasn't that cold.

Some of our neighbors starting to collect around a fire pit in a neighbors driveway. We chatted, roasted marshmellows, drank cocoa (and some things a bit stronger), watched the kids play and dig a snow cave. We even watched as one of our neighbors was towing sledders around our circle with his 4WD.

Here's a later photo of the snowman. My older son dug it out, but he decided that he wanted to make it into a real snowman, so he pushed more snow inside of it. Also notice the t-shirt and no jacket or gloves.

sorry to get off topic but as frustrating as the snow was, it was amazing how it brought neighbors together during what was a dismal holiday season for many people! The restaurants/bars around us were packed. It was so fun!

Here's a picture I took out my back yard one morning. No, I have not edited it (other than to trim the size), and if anything this picture doesn't show exactly HOW purple it was.
