I'm 22 years old and planning to move to Colorado at the end of 2012. I'm looking to become a white water rafting guide so the area will need to have tourists and rivers to raft. I'd prefer the cost of living to be nothing outrageous for obvious reasons but if I have to live 15 minutes away and drive then that'll be okay too.

Any suggestions/comments?

Buena Vista and Salida are two locations on the Arkansas River where there are many, many rafting companies. They are about 25 miles from each other. Also there are trips out of Canon City to the Royal Gorge area of the Arkansas.

Fort Collins also has a sizeable rafting presence.

Buena Vista is a place many go.

I've known quite a few rafting guides. Since there is no money in it or rather not really enough to live on, many camp out all summer long. Depends on the area, but seasons are often not super long. So if you want to survive you'll likely need 2 or 3 other jobs, especially in winter.

Then again, there might not be much of a rafting season.

Colorado's below-average snowpack could impact farmers

Is there much rafting along the Roaring Fork? It seems that there's been a couple getting in the way of my fishing.
