I'm wonder if there are any issues with the mountains or winter weather blocking the signal from satellite TV and radio?

I'm a lifetime subscriber to Sirius and a big fan of Direct TV. Any members out here have any experience?

Right now I'm thinking of re-locating to the Boulder/Ft. Collins area, but wondering about any parts of the state.

Thanks!

Colminer

You will be able to get Direct TV as long as you have a clear line of sight to the sat. in the sky. Check with them as to where your dish must be pointed, so you can get a place with a good line of sight. As for serius. I know my brother had them for a bit. worked just fine

DirecTV's satellite is in a SSW direction and apparently very close to the DishNetwork satellite so if the wall you want to mount the dish on faces anything but South or Southwest and has any kind of overhang from the roof you may have problems getting it installed. Having said that, my first apartment faced due West and the tech guy got the dish installed okay and my second place faces WSW and despite some grumbling about the roof getting in the way of the dish, the tech managed just fine. I think unless you buy a place that literally backs up to a cliff-face you shouldn't have problems with the mountains.

The only time the signal got blocked due to weather was during a torrential downpour last Summer and when we had 3ft of snow last winter and it covered the dish.

There are no problems peculiar to Colorado or the mountains. However, the biggest problem is when your dish fills with snow. If you make sure to mount it within broom handle distance you can clear it out. I need to do that 2 or 3 times a year. Neighbors with the dish on the roof can't get to them and may lose sigmal until the sun melts it off.

Otherwise, brief rain fade can occur anywhere in the country.
