Just bought a house in Durango. Does anyone have any experience renting your house or second home as vacation rentals? It is about 22 mins North of Durango by DMR & Electra Lake. It was a great deal, short sale, etc. As I'm considering renting it out to help with the mortgage, Just curious if the vacation rental business is good around there. Already talking with a property manager, just curious what some of the locals or out of state property owners with first-hand experience think. I live out of state in Dallas, always loved the area & vacationed there since I was 12 in '87. Can't wait to enjoy many years there and eventually retire in this house.

VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner
They seem to get a lot more per week there than in Vermont, where I've rented vacation homes.

Yes, I would second VRBO. We've rented numerous times in the Durango area over the past few years (Vallecito Lake) and VRBO always has a good selection available. it's used quite a bit in the Durango area for vacation rentals.
