Castle Rock is a great place to live. I moved here a couple years ago from Highlands Ranch. Last winter was not at all representative of what is normal for Colorado at all, don't worry, its usually pretty tame winters here in Colorado.

If your into ameneties, consider highlands ranch. Its get a bad rap and isn't for everyone, but the amentities are second to none and the demographics, schools and parks -- superb.

If your looking for a little more land or house or laid back ... then
Castle rock is a better value in terms of house for the money and land for the money. We bought in Sapphire Pointe, which is on the N. side and sure offered a lot of nice house for less $$. The topography is rolling hills/mtns and you see some deer now and then. THe star gazing is amazing. Yet its only 15-20 from the tech tech or 35 from downtown denver. Its worth it for the kids -- good schools and small town atmosphere.

If you have more money to spend on a house, Diamond Ridge is very nice and lots are typically 2-3 acres. My house has a 3/4 acre lot, but that would have been unheard of in highlands ranch, except for a few select lots that are that big. Most 1/4 acre lots in highlands ranch are considered big. But with all the open space, maybe who cares?

Family Circle rated Castle Rock the #1 small town in America for Families. I agree.

Though it wasn't my question, thanks B. Adams! I am sure the OP (if she ever comes on this thread again for which I wouldn't blame her) appreciates the information.
