While there may be some value in considering the negatives perceived by others, I would caution you to not take it too seriously. Your perception is likely to be quite different. A boots-on-the-ground visit, will provide many of the answers you are seeking.

Take your time, go slowly. Rent first while getting a feeling for the area. Be wary of rushing into any situation that will limit your mobility and your options to live where you really want to be living. In other words, don't get stuck with a mortgage on a property that might tickle your new-to-the-area fancy but turns out to be a a cumbersome burden. Everything is likely to be perceived rather differently after living in the area for a period of time. Experiencing the daily realities of a new place can be quite sobering.

Default Hi - Eagle versus Glenwood

Hi
We really want out of the City. Fracking is ruining the air quality in the Front Range. I know it is Statewide but nothing like down here in Denver area. If you were a family hoping to get involved with community, would you choose Eagle or GS and why? Thanks

@MountainTime13: The gates of Denver are not locked. You can leave at any time.

I would pick GSprings simply due to there being more to do and slightly less expensive than Eagle. I currently reside in Eagle and it can very a very expensive place to live.

Eagle Ranch is a disaster. The houses are to big, energy inefficient and badly build. Just ask some of the home owners there.

If you come from Chicago this is the place to be. Politics are Chicago style with a lot of bribery involved. Recently the Major and a board member did a trip to Florida to visit a developer which has ties to the business the board member is running. They are building a lot of trails and guess what the Major is working with that trail builder. Great stuff you can't make that up.

Since a shopping mall has been approved in 2012, Eagle has totally stalled. You would be stupid to open a business here. One the other hand this shopping mall probably will never be build.

Eagle has great weather and it looks good on paper but make sure you make a informed decision before you buy a house here.

For what it's worth, I think Edwards is one of the nicest town in the Country. You'll be in close proximity to the great skiing and hiking trails that Avon and Vail have to offer, close to the river for rafting, and not that far from Eagle. Edwards has great restaurant, yoga, health stores, etc which sounds like is something that you are looking for. Real Estate is pricey, but everything around here is. Another candidate could possible be Minturn.
