Soooo..you guys have termites there? Az is crawling with them (sorry )

We need to get an inspection and other than the usual...roof, foundation, plumbing and electric..I'm wondering if there's anything else we should have checked.

We are too dry and high in altitude to have termites or roaches (!) unless you are a complete slob or bring them here in your luggage.

Damn! Gonna have to unpack the termites in my suitcase.

Seriously, though, it's quite dry here, too, in Arizona but termites are rampant and a constant struggle. Given that you are high desert (instead of just desert), I was hoping we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. That and the fact we are considering a wood house.

I don't think termites are common in Colorado, but they are not unheard of. You might consider calling an exterminator company that serves the area in which you are looking and ask them.

I've never seen termites in Colorado, but huffdriver is wrong about roaches. Pueblo is full of them. When I was first married way back in 1972, my husband and I moved into a house on the west side of Pueblo that his parents gave us. It was crawling with roaches. I'm German and a clean fanatic. I scrubbed every inch of that house and we had an exterminator in. They came back. And came back. We finally gave up and moved.

I have a friend who's an entomologist at CSU. He said there are dozens of varieties of roaches in Colorado. Some of them are unique to southern Colorado.

I wonder if it's some kind of roach that I occasionally will see in my kitchen. Tiny...I mean really tiny...not even the size of a grain of rice.

We have no termites here in the 9 years I have been here, SW CO and Denver Metro.

I don't want to jinx us in this beautiful state but.........................we have almost no bugs here!
I have killed a few black widows, but less than in So Cal. A few misquotes in summer but really no bugs.
