Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins

My husband got a job offer in Vail. Since Vail is out of our budget I need to research towns to raise my family up tp 30 miles away from Vail. Want to start my research on the right board.

The general Colorado forum is the "right" one. The Vail area is not close to any of the sub forums, and the mountain towns don't have a forum. Ask away!

I and others have lived or live in Vail and we have posted volumes of information on the Vail area. All you have to do is a search of the general Colorado forum and you will find a wealth of information posted.

If you are looking to live 30 miles from Vail, understand that except along I-70, the rest of Eagle County is wilderness. The only town if you want to be outside of Vail Valley is Eagle and Gypsum. These towns are a little less expensive, but living in Eagle County is expensive and there is no way around it, especially if you have a family.

I live in the Vail area and promise to post some useful info later tonight, right now I need to run out for the day. Look at Eagle-Vail, Avon, Wildridge, Edwards, Eagle and Gypsum for housing, expect to pay 1,800-3,000 for a town home to a house in those areas, gas is 3.89 a gallon right now so factor that into commuting as well as winter driving conditions if your husband is working long hours in Vail.
