On several ocassions, I've had a nice nap on the lawn in the shade of the cottonwood trees in the Ridgway town park. Great place for a nap on the drive back to GJ after soaking in the hot springs.

So, I have this old, really old scanner. Only covers one band and have it tuned to the Ridgway fire, ambulance and Ouray mountain rescue page out frequency. Don't care to listen to police calls, but the fire and ambulance and especially the mountain rescue stuff is interesting. Last night about midnight the pager thingy went off for the fire department, but NO fire siren. I remember a very loud siren that blasted away when the fire department was paged out. First time I heard it, when I moved here in 2009, it was 4am in winter. I thought it was a tornado, ran outside and it was snowing. Then I realized it was for the fire department. I thought how cool is that?

But this time no siren. I must investigate further.

This week there are relatives visiting from Ohio (not visiting ME but visiting in Delta). Today I'm taking them to Silverton, over Red Mountain. Heheheheh.

You are so bad. I have a message from your former neighbors - the cows.

"Stop calling us dumb"

"Stop calling dumb"

Wow, everybody leaving CO. just leaves more room for me since I'm moving in.

Everything is relative I guess...

Everyone can move out, that's ok with me. I'll be sure to turn the lights off.

Today I put together a gas bbq grill, now to get a propane tank (sadly charcoal isn't allowed here). Had a 1/2 pound buffalo burger at the True Grit Cafe, pricey but oh so good. Windy with dark clouds and I see rain over Log Hill this evening.

My new favorite thing is sitting on my south facing porch in the morning with my coffee looking at the San Juan range. Crisp cool air. LOVE IT!

My ritual for visiting Ridgway is to go first to the True Grit for dinner and then to where I'm staying. Usually chicken fried steak, but the burger sounds grand (as I write here from work, with nine more shifts to go before VACA, but who's counting?
