I was chatting with a native about my recent visit to Estes Park.

I pronounced it Esteez, and she was quick to correct me that it's Estiss.

Which is correct?

Named for Joel Estes of Missouri, early rancher.

It does not rhyme with "testes".
"Estiss" is not correct either. It's Estes with an e like in test. I should have chosen "other" but I answered too quickly.

I did the same and I agree. It is a short e as in test.
