My family and I are looking to move around the Fort Collins area so we are within 1/2 hour driving to our daughter in CSU. We are looking for a smaller town feel where you can see the mountains, even if it's from somewhat of a distance. I am in healthcare and he is a computer specialist. We will be looking to buy a not too expensive house as we don't want something huge. What do people think of LaPrte, Windsor vs. Wellington, Severance, Timnath, etc...? Looking around at these type of areas and of course, like I said, need to see the mountains.
Please advise. Thanks!

Pretty much anything on the WEST side of I-25 will have good views, even some parts that are on the east side will too. Point is, most areas on the I-25 corridor have good views. Fort Collins and environs will have FINE views. Try looking on realtor.com for homes in the towns you mention, many homes listed will have a set of photo's of the property, often showing the view that you get.

Wink More than a few options

Anything you suggested should have a fine, panoramic view of the mountains. But are you sure you wish to live there?

You might wish to consider the small town of Masonville and environs. Just a short distance west of Ft. Collins, past Horsetooth Reservoir, it is distinctly rural and, if not in the mountains, certainly in the foothills, although an open valley of sorts. Easily less than a 30 minute drive into Ft. Collins, although not as simple as some of the other communities you mentioned.

Or maybe something a bit further west on CO 14? Or east on CO 14 and the open prairie?

Maybe not your cup of tea, but you certainly have more options than those mentioned.

Any of the towns you listed are great options. I live in Wellington and really like it here. You have a great view of the mountains and you get a lot more house for your dollar. Timnath and Windsor are also good options. I guess depending on where you work would be important. Going North on I25 is usally not a problem but traffic can get a little hectic going South. If you were to work in Loveland I would suggest Timnath or Windsor. If working in Fort Collins I would say Wellington.
