If they would of included the colleges and universities I would have voted yes. They do more to attract high paying jobs then k-12 or at the very least the same.

1B is that Pueblo County Issue that I was looking for, a 3.5% tax on the sale of retail mj.

Proposition AA is a 70 million annual plus a 15% excise tax for mj to be used ... the first 40 million for public school capital?

So this 66 is kind of like gambling money? The money can go to El Paso County and throughout Colorado even though places like Pueblo are doing the dirty work by selling it? If so, what do you think of that Joss?

Amendment 66, a 1 Billion dollar tax increase statewide. The statewide tax of 4.63% will be traded for one of 5% for those with an income up to 75k and 5.9% for those with income above that. And for what? Because our kids are underfunded? Well underfunded compared to whom? Our neighbors? No. But compared with the country as a whole? Not so much there either. To the rest of the world? Heck no. The rest of the nation's kids are underfunded too. But does funding equate to quality of education?

No. Amendment 66? NO!

Besides that, the school funding can come from mj, should have been coming from gambling... how about we throw legalized prostitution into the mix?

Same. My only gripe is that Amendment 66 doesn't include higher ed. Good they are doing something to help the k-12 educational system though.

I beg to differ on that point. While the damned Front Range seems to have gone completely to hell, we in the SW Mountains still care deeply for our children and their education. Cortez has already voted for funding to build a new high school and the school districts in our part of Colorado are in favor of amendment no. 66.

Dolores School District RE-4A
Durango School District 9-R Board of Education
Eagle County Schools
Englewood Public School District
Monte Vista School District
Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1

Watch out Front Range! Not only do we control your water supply, we're smarter than you!

This whole argument that we should vote yes on 66 because school districts support it is complete garbage. Of course they support it...as do the teachers unions. More money = more hiring = more dues for the unions. That right there is probably the biggest reason to shoot it down.

I'm no on both. Amendment 66 is ridiculous and I felt like voting "no" on the marijuana taxes, just because. Also voted against the City and County of Denver marijuana tax, which is ridiculous because it gives council the ability to raise the tax on a whim all the way up to 15%. No thanks. I'm a cranky voter.

15% is too much for pot. In Pueblo county it's only 3.5% and that is fair. Also the Pueblo Chieftain is reporting that there is a debate as what counties should get the money if the state tax on pot passes. Pueblo has said it should only be for the counties that legalize it and I agree with that.

Yeah, that's precisely the question I posed to you earlier. Good luck with that Pueblo. Go ask Cripple Creek and Central City/Blackhawk if they are the only recipients of "their" sin tax.

Asking the government if they need more money is like asking a dog if it's hungry. No matter how much they get "for the children" they always come back in a year or two or three and plead poverty again. I'm against the pot tax too. If pot is legal, why should it be taxed at a higher rate than cigarettes? Instead, why not give ALL of the taxes from pot to the schools instead of jacking up everyone's income taxes?
