Colorado is crazy for zombies. “This fact is epitomized by the upcoming Stanley Film Festival in Estes Park, which has selected Denver-based filmmaker Alexandre Philippe’s zombie-centric “Doc of the Dead” as its opening night movie this year. Philippe’s feature-length documentary will launch the event on April 24” - See more at: Essay: Could Colorado be ground zero for a zombie apocalypse? | CPR

Hasn’t Estes Park already suffered enough? Now with the “Doc of the Dead” opening in town, Estes Park’s disasters have gone into overkill. Literally. So what is the best way to survive a zombie invasion in Colorado? What part of the state would be safest from a possible onslaught of the undead? (Hint: It’s not Estes)

My thinking is to hold out in the high mountain passes until winter when the zombies will freeze solid and can be chopped up for firewood. After all, creatures which seem to have originated in Haiti probably haven’t had a chance to adapt to freezing temperatures. Yet. Or we could just send the Zombies to Manitou Springs, renowned for its population of witches. The zombies would fit right in and be assimilated before you could say “Pikes Peak”! If not, I bet Focus on the Family could climb up on the old Holly Sugar Building in downtown Colorado Springs and rein thousands of silver crosses down on the zombies. Oh wait. Silver crosses only work on vampires.

So how would you save Colorado from a very bad zombie invasion?

Zombies won't take over Colorado if we "smother" them in green chile sauce.

Wink Shaun

Unfortunately law enforcement and the US military have been training in various scenarios against domestic insurgents and 'zombies'—and they are us: the civilian populace. It is always easier to deal perfunctorily with someone when already dehumanized. Widespread martial law, if and when instituted, will likely be due a real or purported pandemic.

On a much lighter note, the reference mentioned several different zombie movies. One that is particularly amusing is the 2004 film 'Shaun of the Dead.'
