18" on Red Mountain Pass, 4" in Ridgway, Log Hill about 10". This was a heavy wet snow, but most has melted now.

We are enjoying a balmy 54 degrees at the moment, but another freeze warning has been posted for tonight. This is getting really old. Grand Junction set a record new low temperature at 6:30 this morning coming in at only 30 degrees. This sets a new record low temperature for May 13, breaking the old record of 34 degrees, last reached in 1942. But the warming trend should continue and we’ll be in the low 80’s by the weekend. Yay!

However, no snow or rain either here or in the mountains. The National Weather service says:

Circulation over SW Colorado will continue to weaken today and
move into northern New Mexico. Intensity of snow showers have been on
the decrease for the past several hours...this trend will continue
into the morning.
In the afternoon...scattered snow showers or
flurries form over the high country along The Divide. More sun and
less cloud cover mean rebounding temperatures...but northerly flow keeps
highs well below the seasonal norm...

[On Sunday] Gradient flow backs around to southwest
with breezy winds in the afternoon. Conditions may approach
critical fire weather thresholds...
but may be dependent on how
fuels dry during the next several days.

From record breaking lows to fire weather in just a handful of days. That’s very spooky and shows just how dry SW Colorado has become.

@Joss: Happy B-day, you deluded bluegrass lover, you.

Ditto. The Colorado forums wouldn't be the same without you, Joss. Happy Birthday!

Wink Rather pleasant

Yep, Happy Birthday to Josseppie. And great news if enjoying some snowfall on your birthday.

In Summit County it is presently about 26ºF with a light breeze. Forecast low tonight is about 7ºF. According to the Weather Channel it has been snowing since Noon, but 3:35pm and still blue sky with some white clouds floating about. Will see what ever happens with this presumed snowfall.

Things could be worse. Like in southern Colorado, or better chance of unpleasantness in California. Not only the ongoing drought there but also now a heat wave. If predictions pan out, San Francisco will see a quite unseasonable 88ºF tomorrow, which would break the previous record of 87ºF for that date. The far southern Bay Area may reach triple digits today, and likely as well in portions of southern California. This unusual heat extends to Canada, with even Seattle, WA an unusual 87ºF right now. They may be enjoying that, as by Sunday a more normal high of 63ºF, and customary drizzle.

Compared to tornadoes and such elsewhere, overall Colorado seems rather nice at the moment.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!

Also, I think this is a record for me as I have had my central heat on since Saturday and will have it on today and tonight as well. I do not remember ever having my central heat on this long in May before as usually my central air is on and I am watering my lawn every day. Yes even my sprinkler system has been turned off since Saturday!
