Another option, not usually mentioned, would be Rifle CO. Not touristy itself but near Glenwood Springs and diverse wilderness.

Check out Lyons! Seems to fit what you are looking for, but perhaps too close to the bigger cities than you would like.

An observation I have made, that has been confirmed by analysis of census data, is that the outdoorsy towns mentioned in this thread have vastly more single men then single women (under 40). Since he identified himself as a bachelor, that would probably be a factor in his decision.

That is pretty much true of all of Colorado and most of the Rocky Mountain states.

That sounds like a great ad for more women to come here. I know Jazz always supports having more people move to the state.

I don't disagree that that is an issue, but...

according to the census data I could find total men between 20-40 yrs in Colorado are more numerous than total females (same age range) by only about 10%. This is also true for subtotal of males and females "not in a household". Since marriage is still mainly between a man and a woman, I don't think the unmarried subttoals are likely as askew as the perception; but maybe women dating or marrying older affects it. If Robert5 has found more detailed data, I hope he will share it. There may be other factors, like who gets out to / looks in bars, who one "sees" in this light, who is looking in general or other dating behavior.

Maybe consider the old saying, "The odds are good, but the goods are odd…"

There is a reason there are not more women living in many parts of Colorado. Politically incorrect as it is to say it, women in many areas of Colorado earn a lot less income than men do, even in the same jobs. Surviving financially in much of Colorado is a real struggle, even more so for people at the lower income levels, which is where many women are. It's not a situation of which I approve in the least, but it's a fact of life in the Colorado economy.
