I've been curious to see what type of issue this would become. Are too many people driving high? Are too many drivers also driving with marijuana and alcohol in them? How do control this?

"But the data the researchers use does not reveal whether those drivers were impaired at the time of the crash or whether they were at fault"

Duh!

I think we need a study on impaired researchers lol.

I wonder how they measure it. Pot stays in a hard core users system for at least 30 days. I tested positive for pot the day I got out of rehab and I hadn't smoked in over a month. So obviously, just because somebody tests positive for pot doesn't mean they are currently high. So there has to be some kind of a scale that tells if you have smoked in the past 30 minutes or so. Smoking a joint 30 minutes ago surely gives a different reading than smoking a joint 30 days ago.

Not that it's ok to drive stoned, I'd rather be on the highway with stoned drivers than with drunk drivers any night of the week.

I think doing either demonstrates a level of irresponsibility that justifies immediate license suspension for no less than one year for a first offence. You want to waste your life on a 'wake 'n' bake' lifestyle, that's your business. You want to 'wake 'n' bake' and endanger other drivers by getting behind the wheel of a car while stoned, that's the rest of society's business.

On another note, those of you who feel driving while high is a "non-issue", do you feel the same about people deer hunting while stoned and using high-powered rifles as well?

Gee, there's pot, alcohol, wrong meds, too many meds, not taking meds,
old folks that can't see over their steering wheel, angry drivers, hot rodders speeding, texters..
and the combo of all the above combined, while fiddling with their volume...

...then, we have people from Minnesota...that was a joke.

We buy cars with airbags , use our seatbelts and drive defensively...esp in the middle
of a bright, clear day!!....looking both ways before entering an intersection on Green.

Why? How do you drive? Any other way than the above and you are in trouble, imo.

Well put... and changed your joke :-)

The last thing we need is government intervention with more regulations and laws to make us all "safer".
